“I also apply the power of visualising a trick in my mind, which I learned from skateboarding, to my design work. It helps when you can visualise a solution to a problem before you sketch it out. It’s the principle of mind over matter.”

You work as a designer at Porsche. Is there anything from skateboarding that you apply to your day job? I definitely apply the self-discipline that I learned from skating to my day job. In skateboarding, nobody tells you to land a certain trick. It’s purely your own personal drive that pushes you to keep trying until you land it. This mindset helps me in my job as a designer. When I believe in a certain solution, I keep at it until I find a way. I try different approaches and alternatives until it works. I also apply the power of visualising a trick in my mind, which I learned from skateboarding, to my design work. It helps when you can visualise a solution to a problem before you sketch it out. It’s the principle of mind over matter.
