‘Pepo Castro is an Ecuadorian skater I met in 2014, our first meeting was for the construction in La Paz – Bolivia, while we were building the Pura Pura Skatepark, where there were more than 100 volunteers from 20 different countries to build a skatepark of 2000 square meter in three weeks. After a couple of years in 2016 we met again through art, Pepo with his skateboard sculptures and I with my photographs, for a collective exhibition called “La tabla, la calle, la ciudad”, being the first time that skateboarding appropriated an art space here in Bolivia. Pepo is one of all our foreign friends that keeps visiting us, even just to have a skate afternoon and take some photos. This is one of that simple pictures that have a lot of background, from which I gained a permanent bound and are part of what I do today as a photographer, architect, and skateboarder. All this, thanks to skateboarding.’
