‘Attiba open my eyes to the use of flash and how dramatic it can be.’
December 2025
Can you tell us something about Texas that no one knows?
I’ve been staring at this question for about 20 minutes now and I even tried to google interesting facts about Texas and just found out that The Jalepeno is the state vegetable I believe. I actually just kind of skimmed over it. So, while I don’t have an actual answer, I can say that the Carenow gap in Arlington is harder than it looks and isn’t very fun.
How do you describe the skate scene in Texas?
I would describe it as something to be proud of. I get excited when I see local spots on Thrasher videos and there’s a good amount of positivity. I can easily make friends if I choose to. I’ve also met people I never thought I would if it wasn’t for skateboarding and friends, I have that provided that opportunity. Shout out to PJ and Mia.
What came first for you? Skateboarding or Photography?
Skateboarding came first at the age of twelve (25 years ago) when I found a skateboard in my garage. Which was great because I was racing BMX at the time, and I sucked at it. Photography soon followed at fourteen when my aunt gifted me a film camera for Christmas which was also great because I suck at drawing.
Which skate photographer inspires you?
I’d have to say Attiba Jefferson. No hesitation there. Attiba open my eyes to the use of flash and how dramatic it can be. His photos always grabbed my attention pretty quick, and I soon realized that flash and good timing, as well as composure can really make a great photo. Plus, I think he has the best career in the world. Widely respected, makes a living as one the best doing what he loves. Sounds like the life to me.

Proudest moment so far?
This one’s a tossup! I recently met Kareem Campbell last year and thanks to my involvement with Devotion Skate Co. he already knew who I was. I walked up to him and said, “Kareem man what’s up!?” we shook hands and I said, “Man I’ve been seeing you around (Instagram) It’s nice to finally meet you!”. His response, and with a big smile he said, “Me!? Shit I’ve been seeing YOU around!”. I was honestly in too much shock to say anything else (laughing). But it’s either that or the time Gershon Mosely basically called me a gay cannibal on one of my Facebook posts back in 2015. It was in response to me asking, what if it were Jeffrey Dahmer saying that stupid quote; “If you can’t handle me at my worst, then you don’t deserve me at my best” that was popular around that time. I’m not sure how it happened exactly but I’m still proud of it.
Anything embarrassing or funny you are willing to share?
I obsessively play with my ears to the point where they are now kind of deformed. People ask if I’m a boxer and I have to give them a way less cool answer.
Is there any skate shot you wish you had taken?
Yes! Every shot where I wasn’t paying attention, sitting in the wrong spot, or was accidentally out of focus. You miss one hundred percent of the shots you wish you had taken. That’s life.
If you could pick any skater in the world to shoot, who would it be?
Figgy! Biggest reason is because I already have on a chance encounter in Denton TX, back in 2022. Him and everyone that was there was super cool and it felt like I was just hanging out with the guys, snapping photos.
Similar question. Who would you pick if you can shoot for any brand in the world?
Emerica. I’d shoot for Emerica because I like wearing their shoes and I’ve always loved their approach to skateboarding and the videos they produce. Nothing flashy or too edgy, just dedicated skateboarders out there doing their thing. They have a cool style.
Last Question. If you could interview any person in the world, who would it be?
I would interview the girl who took my virginity because it wasn’t awkward enough. It would really seal the deal and probably be a good read. Much love!
