What trigged the idea to start a skate wax company?
I’ve always loved art and skateboarding. During COVID I had a lot of free time and decided to get back into drawing, painting, and sculpting. I wanted to sell my art but didn’t have a market. So, I decided joined my two passions together. Here we are almost 4 years later and still love creating and getting hands on with any aspect of art and skateboarding!

How did you get into skateboarding?
Before skateboarding, it was video games for me. It was around 1999-2000, my cousin and I were looking through a video game magazine which had an ad for THPS. At the top of the page there were silhouettes showing the steps to perform an Ollie. We went to his friend’s house to borrow a board. Tried to Ollie and fell straight to my elbow. It hurt so bad, but that moment changed my life. Thank you skateboarding.

Is there anything you do different compared to other wax brands?
I’m not sure what other wax brands do, I focus on my brand. I will tell you this, I make everything myself. Spent a lot of time creating and testing different formulas. I make my own shapes, molds, pours and color ways. Every wax piece is special to me, nothing store bought or generic block of wax. They all have their own story, from beginning to the end. Our wax gets so many compliments on design, feel, performance and how well it holds up in very hot temperatures. I also offer other products other than wax such as grip tape strips, stickers and apparel. I make my own screens and print the shirts myself, again all original artworks. I am also the filmer and editor for our YouTube channel WAXO_TV.

What are the biggest challenges with Waxo?
I’d have to say the biggest challenge would be having a full-time job.

What is your full-time job?

Most embarrassing or funny moments that you can share?
Not sure about embarrassing or funny but I lost one of my cameras which had about a year’s worth of clips in it that had not been backed up.

What is the Texas skate community most proud of?
Being a Texan!

What does that mean being a Texan?
It’s the only thing that came to mind at the moment. I can’t speak for the entire Texas skate community, but I can tell you something about the Dallas skate community. The entire skate community came together and petitioned to rename the garland skate park. Even Tony Hawk helped change the name from “THE BONEYARD” to “JON COMER SKATEPARK” in his honor.

On your website you are currently selling three types of wax but four times as much in apparel and accessories. Seems like you are venturing off to be a general skate brand instead.
It’s all part of a business; every company makes their product. Then make stickers, accessories, and apparel. Which is a great way to promote and for your peers to show support. I do anything that is skateboarding related as long as I can put my art in it and if I can make it myself even better.

Are there any other wax companies that you follow?
I don’t follow any wax company, except for one and that was on accident. I’ll explain in a bit. I like to stay focused on what I’m doing. The wax company I follow is actually a Mexico brand. One day I scrolling through some videos on Instagram. I came across a reel that read “PATINA HOY” I did exactly that. I gave them a follow and went to go skate. When I got back home, I realized it was a wax company.

If you could sign up any skater for Waxo, who would it be?
There are so many talented local skaters, which is what I look for.

If you could pick anyone in the world, who would it be?
Ok. If you really want me to pick anyone in the world, here are a few I’d pick. I’ll use instagram names like Peter.b.sk8ing. Gnarly little dude. Catadiazsk8 always has the gnarly street clips. Ben__aurelien one of my favorite skaters and Leoromero one of the greatest!

Last Question. If you could interview any person in the world?
I would do a day in the life of BEAGLE!
